Practice Nurses – Karen Winder, Gabriella Haddad, Joanna Knight, and Joanne Smith. Routinely the nurses are responsible for immunisations, cervical smears, blood pressure monitoring, ear syringing, taking blood, cholesterol checks, dressings and stitch removals.
Health Care Assistant is Joanne Chapman, Kathryn Tolmie and Debbie Barber
HCAs carry out a wide range of screening checks including Heart Disease, Asthma and Diabetes monitoring. They can give advice regarding diet, smoking, alcohol consumption and exercise.
The Community Nurses (integrated response team) are based at Cambourne and are available to visit you if you are housebound and assist with dressings, removal of sutures and advice. They care at home for the acutely and chronically sick and terminally ill. They can advise you on surgical equipment including incontinence pads, walking frames and wheelchairs. The Community Midwife works with the Doctors to provide care throughout pregnancy and immediately after birth. There is an Antenatal Clinic on Wednesday afternoons by appointment at Comberton and a booking clinic at Eversden on Wednesday mornings by appointment. Contact the team on 01223 348981 to book an appointment.
The Community Physiotherapist accepts referrals from the Doctors and can provide treatment at home if necessary. Patients are seen either at Cambourne, Chesterton or Sawston.
The Phlebotomists are Kathryn Tolmie and Debbie Barber who are available to take blood samples.
The Child and Family Nurses are based at Cambourne (01954 282830). They have responsibilities for the general health of the under 5s, school children and the elderly. They hold a baby clinic the 1st Wednesday of the month at Comberton Baptist Church from 2:00-3:30 to discuss any worries with babies and toddlers.
