Travel

Looking forward to your Holiday?

Don’t forget to leave plenty of time for your travel vaccinations!

It can take 4-6 weeks to complete a full course of vaccinations.

The surgery provides a comprehensive travel service. Patients are advised to make an appointment at least 6 weeks before travelling. Depending on the destination the first appointment will be a consultation only, you may not receive any vaccinations. Please be prepared to pay in advance for any vaccines that have to be ordered for you.

Some vaccinations are free on the NHS to registered patients but other vaccinations are charged: the more common ones of these are paid for when given. The less common vaccinations are paid for in advance and then ordered specifically for you. Patients not registered with the practice (including university students returning home for the holidays) will be required to pay for all vaccinations.

Advice is available for malarial prophylaxis. Antimalarials may be purchased from the dispensary, these are not available on the NHS.

All patients (each member of a family separately) need to complete a travel form which must be completed in advance of the appointment. Delay in receiving your travel form may result in an extra appointment being required. Please make an appointment as soon as your form has been submitted.
