We are a dispensing practice, which means we dispense medication for our patients. If you would rather have your prescriptions dispensed elsewhere, you will need to provide a stamped addressed envelope for us to send the prescription to a pharmacy.
Following a consultation with a clinician, medicines are normally dispensed straight away after the appointment.
Repeat Prescriptions
If you are taking regular medication your doctor may allow the prescription to be repeated on request. You will be given a slip of paper with the names of the medicines which may be repeated. You can obtain further supplies by bringing/posting this slip to the surgery or by ordering your prescription online through Patient Access or enquire about our managed repeat system. We cannot accept repeat prescription requests over the phone or via email.
A minimum of 7 working days must be allowed for repeat prescription requests therefore they cannot be requested at a consultation or home visit for immediate collection. If you wish to pick up repeats at the same time as your appointment please order them 7 days beforehand.

Please allow an additional working day over bank holidays and busy periods.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to attend periodically for their drugs to be reviewed.

28 Day Prescribing
To comply with NHS directives, all prescriptions (excluding contraception) will be issued for one month at a time. Special arrangements can be made for holidays or exceptional circumstances. If you have any questions or concerns please speak to your doctor.
Prescription charging and exemptions
If you don’t have a current exemption or pre-payment certificate, all prescriptions must be paid for at the time of collection. Cash and card payments are accepted.
If someone else is collecting on your behalf they must be over 18. Please ensure they know what they need to collect for you.
Prescription delivery
We offer deliveries to some village locations for patients who have no transport or someone to collect on their behalf.
Prescriptions are available for collection from Friday onwards at Grantchester Community Centre, Hardwick Post Office, Toft Post Office, and Coton Orchard. Please contact the dispensary team for further details.

Dispensary Opening Hours
From 1st October 2021, both dispensaries will close at 6.00pm Monday to Friday, and will remain closed over the weekend.

PharmaSelf will remain operational even whilst the dispensary is closed. The order cut-offs will still apply as above.
The delivery service will not operate between Christmas and New Year.
The last deliveries prior to Christmas will be Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th December. Prescription requests for these dates must be placed no later than Friday 17th December.
The first deliveries in the New Year will be Thursday 6th and Friday 7th January. Prescription requests for these dates must be placed no later than Friday 31st December.
Information for Dosette patients
A two-week supply of dosettes will be supplied in the last delivery before Christmas. If you will be away at this time you must inform the dispensary no later than Friday 10th December to ensure sufficient supply can be provided to you.
