Am I eligible for a free NHS Flu Vaccination?

Flu vaccinations can reduce your risk of catching flu and passing it on.

If you do catch flu, it can mean you'll have milder symptoms and recover quicker. Free flu vaccinations are available through the NHS to certain groups.

Those eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination in 2024/25 are:

  • Those aged 65 years and over
  • Those aged 6 months to under 65 years in clinical risk groups
  • People who are pregnant
  • All children aged 2 or 3 years on 31 August 2024
  • School-aged children (Reception to Year 11), even if not in school
  • Those in long-stay residential care homes
  • Carers in receipt of carer's allowance, or those who are the main carer of an elderly or disabled person
  • Close contacts of immunocompromised individuals
  • Frontline workers in a social care setting without an employer led occupational health scheme

Protect yourself and those around you. Ask a member of staff if you are eligible for a free NHS flu vaccination.

As always we have pre-ordered vaccinations for all of our eligible patients. Your GP encourages you to have your vaccination at the surgery, as this will enable the clinician to update your medical record at the time of your vaccination, and check if you are eligible for a shingles or pneumonia vaccination.

Please note that the JCVI and NHS England have advised that the adult flu vaccination programme for adults be moved to October this year. We will be holding flu vaccination clinics in Little Eversden from October, please refer to our events page for the dates of our clinics or see the posters displayed in the waiting rooms. We will be contacting all eligible patients in the coming weeks to book an appointment. We do not offer walk in clinics.

If you get any side effects, speak with your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse.
