Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine – update June 2021

COVID-19 Vaccination programme – update

We are currently no longer running a Covid-19 vaccination service at this practice.

You can see a summary of our involvement in the Covid-19 vaccination effort through Meridian Primary Care Network here

Please find information below for patients on to access vaccine services locally.

· Awaiting first dose?

Once eligible, patients will be invited by the National Booking Service to book an appointment at one of the local Vaccination Centres or Pharmacy sites online via nhs.uk/covidvaccination or by calling 119.

For people under 40 without other health conditions, it’s currently advised that it’s preferable to have another COVID-19 vaccine instead of the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. You can find out further information in the latest patient information leaflet.

· Awaiting second dose?

Any patient who received their first dose at the practice but has not yet taken up their invite for their second dose can still book their appointment online at nhs.uk/covidvaccination or by calling 119.

You will be asked for your name, postcode and NHS number (patients can still book if do not have this) and then you will be offered a choice of appointments at one of the local Vaccination Centres or Pharmacy sites that is offering the same vaccine as you received for your first dose.

JCVI guidance recommends you receive your second dose between eight and 12 weeks after your first dose. However, if it has been over 12 weeks you are still encouraged to book an appointment to receive your second dose to ensure you have maximum protection.

The COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective and protects you and those around you. It’s the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history and has already saved thousands of lives by preventing the spread of Covid-19. Please book your second dose today. We would like to apologize to all our patients for the unacceptably slow service from the dispensary. We are aware that we have been unable to fulfil the turnaround times for repeat prescriptions that we had promised, and we are also aware that many patients have had to queue for long periods of time to collect their medication.

We have been facing unprecedented demand at a time when we are looking to recruit a new dispensary manager and when we have had high levels of staff sick leave.

Please be assured that we are taking active steps to improve the dispensary and we hope to be able to provide a better service in the New Year.
