PRESCRIPTIONS

We are a dispensing practice. Following a consultation medicines are normally dispensed immediately. However, please do not request repeat prescriptions during a consultation or home visit. If you wish to pick up repeats at the same time as your appointment please order them 2 days before your consultation.

If you are taking regular medication your doctor may allow the prescription to be repeated on request. You will receive a slip of paper on which is printed the names of the medicines which may be repeated. You can obtain further supplies by bringing/posting this slip to the surgery or by ordering your prescription on the web through EMIS Access.

If this is a problem you may ring the dispensaries at the following times:

Comberton: 10.30-12:30 and 3:30-6:00pm. Tel:01223 262399
Eversden: After 10:00am. Tel:01223 262579

The dispensary is very busy during surgery hours and there may be a delay in answering your call. Requests for repeats should be made 2 working days in advance - this allows records to be checked, the prescription authorised and the drugs ordered if necessary. You can collect your drugs after 4pm two days later. Please remember if you wish to call for your drugs on a Saturday morning (8:30-10:30, Comberton only) your request should be in the dispensary by Wednesday. Thursday and Friday requests will not be completed until after 4pm on Monday.

Without a current exemption or pre-payment certificate all prescriptions must be paid for at the time of collection. If you are unwell and come for a consultation please remember that your doctor may well be issuing you with medication so come prepared with cash or cheque book!

Bear in mind collection of repeat medication during surgery hours could mean having longer to wait as priority is given to patients who have been seen. If someone is collecting on your behalf please ensure they know exactly what they have to collect. To avoid embarrassment please do not send children to collect your medication.

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to attend periodically for their drugs to be reviewed.

There are deliveries to some outlying villages for the elderly and housebound. Please enquire with your doctor if you need this service.
